We Should Have Just Had Bertolli!

My idea for dinner tonight was a simple frozen dinner that you warm up in the skillet called Bertolli. Well, Matt convinced me that we should get Pizza Hut because he had a coupon so we came up with the deal that if he ordered it, I'd go pick it up. I left the house feeling completely confident in my abilities of getting around in traffic and finding my way to the store. I also was going to stop by Blockbuster to pick up a movie. I stopped at the first and closest Blockbuster, which I promptly discovered is closing and yesterday was the last day for rentals. Undeterred, I called Matt and he directed me to another one, apparetly right next door to the Pizza Hut. I missed the turn, had to turn around while fighting traffic and it still took me 30 minutes to find the store! I couldn't find any good movies at the Blockbuster and chose one neither of us is really excited about. When I got to the front, the girl was too busy flirting with someone to realize there was a line of people waiting to check out. Then I went next door to Pizza Hut where they informed me that they had lost our order. BUT we'd get a replacement for free! I waited another 10 minutes, when the manager came up and found our order in about 5 seconds. I took the pizza and headed for home. By the time I got back, my two errands had taken me an hour! And the food was only luke warm by then. I thought, we should have just had Bertolli!
Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Pongo seems to think it's okay to get every single toy out of his bins at once. He just can't decide which one he wants to play with!

My first Rockies game! I liked this sign.

My ticket that I got for free. Thanks again, Nick!
Coors field! It has a little different atmosphere than Kaufmann Staduim. Almost every girl I saw was dressed up! I felt so dressed down in my jean shorts and t-shirt but that's what I always wear to baseball games.

Yeah, that's right! I wore a Royals t-shirt! Nobody said anything. By the way, the Rockies' "hot dog derby" is not nearly as cool as the Royals. It's just some colored cartoon cars racing around a cartoon Denver. I dubbed one of them "mustard" to make it more entertaining. The awesome video board. I don't know any of the players listed!

Carlene, Nick and I. Nick made a buddy with the cute elderly lady next to him. She was so cute...she had a baseball glove! The girls! We weren't quite ready for the picture. Nick clicks the button too fast! I must add that the Rockies won. Yay!

Pongo and I taking a nap together on Sunday. I think I caught up on all of my sleep this weekend from staying up late to see Matt last week when he worked nights. He's on days again for three weeks.

Thanks for the new blog and for the pictures! Glad you enjoyed the Rockies game--it looks like a nice stadium. I'm so anxious for Corky and Pongo to see each other again and play with all those toys! At least your dinner was free and you had a new experience! Take care! Love you--MOM

Actually, our dinner was not free. Since they found the order, I had to pay for it. :(

Haha, awesome pics Laura! Pongo is totally the boss of you two. I am all caught up on your blogs now, it's been hard not having real internet at home! Have a good hump day!

Political Aside

I’m going to apologize in advance for making this blog political for today. There is just one recent development I can’t help but post about. Last week, Congress passed a bill that made it a lot harder for credit card companies to take advantage of people through late fees and overlimit fees. Sounds great, huh? This bill would have been a lot better if there hadn’t been a certain “add-on” bill piggy backing on to the credit card legislation, making it legal for concealed weapons to be carried in national parks, as long as they are licensed and registered. Now unless you are going into a national park to shoot condors or bald eagles (which is ILLEGAL!), I cannot think of a single reason why you would need to have a concealed weapon in a national park. It’s not like they are huge hot spots for gangs, thugs and violence. National Parks are set up as a refuge for endangered species and a place where wildlife can live uninhibited. Where a hunting license would be required to shoot wildlife ...

The Power of the Mind

I believe in the power of the mind. It seems to me that a simple thought can solve (or create) many problems. Let me explain. Say you haven’t been sick in a really long time, and you don’t even notice. And just then when you get to thinking “Wow, I really haven’t been sick in a long time,” you come down with a cold. It’s like one little thought can trigger a physical reaction. I had a similar experience at work. My computer software used to crash a lot, which was really annoying. Recently, it has been running well until I had the thought “Wow, this software hasn’t crashed in a long time.” Five minutes later, it crashes. So many of these occurrences have been happening to me lately that it hardly seems like it can be coincidence. Now, if only I could use the power of my mind to figure out my latest programming issues for school…it suddenly doesn’t seem so easy as to “think it in.” Last Saturday morning and Monday mornings, I had to get up at 4 am to let Pongo out. He usually has a bladd...

Interlude: Tuesday Thoughts

One of my favorite TV shows to watch is “Jon and Kate Plus 8”. For those of you who don’t know, it’s a show which chronicles the life of a couple (Jon and Kate) with twins and sextuplets. Last night, Jon and Kate made a big (but expected) announcement. They are getting divorced. Due to all of the rumors in the media, this was not a shock. But I find it ironic that Jon and Kate started doing the show because it was “what was best for the kids.” Granted, it made them a LOT of money and skyrocketed them to fame. But ultimately, and I can only speculate, (they don’t ever really officially say what specifically lead to the divorce) that the fame and money are what dissolved their marriage. Clearly, the show was not really what was best for the kids in the end. I think I am mostly upset about this because I just read Kate’s book “Multiple Blessings,” which was written a couple years ago when she and Jon were still completely in love. I miss that. I really love their story. It was hard to rea...
